You can remove the rear shock through the hole besides the air filter cover.
This is what you do (so I don't have to remember).
|
| 1 |
Place bike on centre stand. |
| 2 |
Remove
- Air filter cover
- Rear brake fluid reservoir |
| 3 |
Almost remove top and bottom shock bolts.
- Raising the rear wheel a bit with your knees frees the tension and enables
the bolts to be removed by hand. |
| 4 |
Remove bolt through rocker arm to
- Parallel arms and
- Lower the arms out the way. |
| 5 |
Undo the remaining (18mm) nut on the right side parallel arm.
- Remove parallel arm. |
| 6 |
Raise wheel as high as required.
- Using bike stand and bricks.
-
Don't
get some one to lift it. He pushed the bike forward off the centre
stand and it fell in a heap on the floor. My legs had been underneath
it a few minutes earlier.
- Lower the shock and
- Rotate it 180 degrees so the compression adjuster is on the right
side. |
| 7 |
Remove it through the hole besides the airbox cover.
- It needs a bit of persuasion to get past the lower edge of the airbox.
- Voila |
| 8 |
Change the preload using a vice. |
