Balance Engine - Swampy at Marsh Performance recommended balancing the crank, conrod and piston. The reason for the wide variability in the smoothness of 640's is that KTM use one set of criteria for all 620, 640 and 660 engines. -
Oil pump - Swampy modified to increase the oil flow by 20%. This should help on sustained high speed runs. -
Exhaust DAM exhaust, rejet and air box mods. For more power and more noise. The louder noise makes it much safer. Cars and especially pedestrians walking in the road hear you coming and hopefully get out the way. With a quiet exhaust they don't hear you and can easily try and cross the road in front of you. I wear ear defenders to avoid tinnitus.

Akrapovic Titanium exhaust. Wonderful sound and a lot lighter.

The Akra downpipes were wearing against each other and the exhaust packing didn't last long. Impossible to repair titanium so I went back to the standard pipes and a DAM exhaust again.

Fantastic!
- Instant response.
- Better kpl
- Very light throttle action.
Dynojetting - Swampy set up my bike. Apparently Ackrapovic systems must be dynoed because they vary so much individually. -
Heavier Clutch Springs Fitted for longer life. - -
Sand air filter Extra filtering in dusty conditions Same again. Still in use.
Reusable stainless oil filters

Saves carrying any spare filters. Clean them in petrol, dry out in the sun, blow with an airline and replace.

Same again. Put the filter on the cover and then insert it in the engine to ensure it is located properly. Still in use.
Duke clutch cable + spare beside it The original cable is not too strong. Duke cables last a long time. Make sure the routing and mounting is right. Now hydraulic. -
Venhill pull throttle cable Another show stopper. Stronger than the original. Spare taken. -
Spare gear lever And again if it breaks. Bash plate protects the gear and rear brake levers. I carried the spare for eight months and only needed it when I dropped it in front of my flat without the bashplate on which bent the lever. -
