The City of the Dead shows the usual signs of a Costa Rican marketing ploy. There are no more than ten houses so it’s one of the smallest cities in the world. However, what it lacks in population, is more than compensated for by it’s incredible position.

It’s truly scary. All the houses are on one cliff ledge. Luckily, I hadn’t noticed before walking across that is not an entirely natural ledge. In many places where it wasn’t wide enough the Incas made stone shelves to create enough width. Not surprisingly, this has collapsed in several places, including a few we walked across.

It’s definitely not the place to have a party.
